Submission Guidelines

Genres and Word Count Limits

Essay: 1000 - 1500
Short story: 1500 - 2000
Flash fiction: 800 – 1000
Poetry:  400 – 1500

Entry fee

There is no entry fee.
However, if writers desire editorial services on their submission, then there is a US$10.00 fee, payable via PayPal or Zelle.

Writers who opt for editorial service must make their fee payable to Mack's Writers Rescue LLC / [email protected]

Deadline

4:00pm Eastern Time
2nd Wednesday of every month for posting the following month.

Formatting Guidelines

Any easy-to-read font, like Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman, Garamond, etc.
Standard margins

Themes

Write your firsthand experience about bipolar. It could be your own diagnosis or that of someone you care for. I want to showcase the emotional range of experience of any of the following themes:
Depression
Hypomania
Mania
Psychosis
Reactions to the diagnosis
Facing stigma
Prescriptions and side effects
Treatment plans: success and failure
Closing the chapter on crazy
Finding support
Starting fresh and with more control, self-direction, and self-efficacy

Images

If you have an image that you’d like attached to the post, submit a JPEG (25MB max). Otherwise, an image will be chosen from Unsplash.

Headshots and short bios can be included, if the writer so desires.

Promotional opportunity

If you have a written work published and available on Books-A-Million, please include the ISBN number and title so an affiliate buy link can be included in the post.

Additional details

I envision posting one piece per category (total of four pieces) each month. I’m keen on writing that’s clear, sharp, new, emotive, evocative, stylistic, immersive, and thought-provoking. As an editor and reader, I want to be left feeling  as though I’ve walked a mile in someone else’s shoes.
